Tonight, walking home from school I listened to radio (Radio 1) a brief program devoted to the Day of Remembrance. Today is February 10. As I listened, I thought about how every tragedy needs time to be heard, received and accepted by the people. For many years - no one can deny it now - we have removed the sinkholes; was out mainly because there was a fertile ground to do so. Today, thanks to the Day of memory, 56% of Italians know what are the sinkholes, whereas before, yes and no 20%, knew what they were (at least for radio so informed the President of the Association). The journalist who hosts the program remembered the tragedy of those who were forced to leave their land, their homes and work. They spoke of a "deep wound" that hardly heals and the trauma of a people, over several generations.
The twentieth century has become famous for his tragedies: the Holocaust, the Soviet camp, the extermination of the Armenians ... and history tells us that there are "good" and "bad" but that every people, every human being carries within itself the light and shadows, contradictions, inconsistencies.
Many were forced to leave their homes.
Today, if there are many immigrants who invade our city, "it's because misery, regimes, wars, force people to flee but to give themselves hope of a better life. Therefore, I can not feel like a privileged, then I would not "pontificate" the comfy chair on which they are now sitting.
I do not know why, but among the many tragedies, those of the peoples of Israel and Palestine continue to catalyze my attention. I feel involved and responsible as an Italian national and the European Union.
always surfing the net I came across this video from CBS that I propose below. It seems well made and can get to know the mood of many Palestinian Arabs.
For a discussion of Remembrance Day, but point out this website:
The tragedies are very different, but they are always tragedies for those who live.
